Thailand Lighting Fair 2018

Recently taken place in Bangkok, Thailand Lighting Fair is ASEAN’s leading trade fair on lighting technology, design and application. Held over three days from the 8th to 10th November at BITEC Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre, LIGMAN proudly demonstrated a number of our growing portfolio of quality fixtures on our booth and were delighted to meet with many existing and new customers over the course of the Fair.

A custom laser cut example of our award-winning Vancouver Decorative column was a particular highlight for customers, as were our high-performing Steamer and unique Light Linear VT bollard with its ground-breaking street optics.

Part of Messe’s global Light & Build family of events, for which LIGMAN has had a long and happy association, the 2018 fair was split into three sections: lighting accessories and electronic components; commercial, city and architectural lighting; lighting art and designer lighting fixtures displayed over 10,000 sqm of exhibition space.

Since the inaugural event in 2015, the Fair has quickly grown to serve the region’s flourishing lighting industry and is continually expanding its scope to cater to market demands. The 2017 event had 274 exhibitors and recorded 10,675 visitors and this year exceeded both these numbers.

As in previous years, an event programme ran alongside the exhibition and this year attracted many leading industry figures and key delegates from the international lighting community.

TAVA or Tartu in Light is a forward-thinking, international, cross-disciplinary festival of light art and lighting art held in Estonia. The pre- and main events of the festival last for 30 days in total. With the main focus of the event taking place from the 25 November encompassing indoor exhibitions, city space installations, workshops and light art and lighting design conferences.

LIGMAN’s Business Development Director, Emre Güneş, a long-time advocate of the event and of lighting design in general, was invited onto the conference program to give a light hearted but pertinent presentation entitled, LED: a miracle or a curse? Laying bare and explaining some of the most misused and misunderstood terms in the industry.

Held in Marrakesh from November the 20th to 23rd was the 8th international exhibition of African cities and territorial communities, called Africities 2018. This large and important event is held every 3 years in a different African City, the previous event in 2015 being in Johannesburg. We at LIGMAN, together with our local partners in Morocco; Lumibright, are extremely pleased to have been able to sponsor this amazing event and participate in so many interesting and collaborative ways.

The event attracted around 15,000 visitors from many different professional backgrounds and allowed participants to strengthen their business networks and hear the needs of local and regional governments, ministries, administrations, public agencies, international organizations and institutions, NGOs, associations and federations. As well as the exhibition, numerous conferences and panel discussions were held over the four days and the event attracted national news networks from all over Africa.

Martin Valentine, Global Design Director of LIGMAN attended the event and worked closely with Lumibright discussing project lighting solutions, meeting designers, engineers and owners and he presented a 90-minute paper on the conference program entitled The Socio-Economic Benefits of Achieving the right Quality of Lighting for Public Night-time Environments, which was very well received by all those who attended.

Due to the extremes of environmental conditions prevalent throughout the different African countries there was great interest in LIGMAN’s portfolio of lighting products due to our high material and finish quality, quality components, sustainable energy efficiency, long warranties and long experience in solar lighting solutions and we wish to thank our partners Lumibright for their very successful organisation and close working collaboration.

Martin Valentine: LIGMAN Global Design Director, presenting on the PLDC Singapore Conference program

Two international lighting conference events, two different parts of the world, two events in which LIGMAN were sponsors and both enlightening and enjoyable for which we wish to extend our thanks to both the organisers and delegates.

LIGMAN recently had the pleasure of supporting both PLDC 2018 in Singapore, shortly followed by IALD Enlighten Europe 2018 in Barcelona, as Gold and Silver Sponsors respectively. It was wonderful to have been part of both these events and to be able to support them, interact with the community, share our views and listen to lighting designers from all over the world.

A big thank you once again to all concerned
