Ceiling lights

“Ceiling lights play an important role in illuminating architectural spaces
Whether recessed, surface mounted or suspended, it is the most common method of lighting an enclosed or covered space.
In both interior and exterior environments, ceiling lights enhance the functionality and ambience of a space”

Interior Ceiling Lights

LIGMAN have an extensive range of interior ceiling lights including recessed downlightssurface mounted fittingsceiling recessed luminairespendant lights, and track mounted fittings. Suitable for all manner of commercial spaces, from office fit-outs to retail, as well as residential spaces.

When selecting ceiling lights there are a number of things to consider. The first is the volume of the space, that being the size and more importantly the height of the room. This will dictate the number of fittings, the size of the luminaires, and how powerful they need to be. Above the ceiling will also need to be considered, particularly for ceiling recessed lights.

Taking into account the dimensions of the space, the lighting design concept then determines which ceiling lights will be selected. In many cases it will be a uniform lighting layout, evenly illuminating the entire space. Other times there will be a hierarchy of lighting. When furniture is fixed, spotlights or downlights can be installed to highlight these areas. In a lobby for example a feature wall might be lit by wall wash ceiling lights, making it the brightest part of the room.

Exterior Ceiling Light

Exterior ceiling lights are different from interior ceiling lights in that they need protection against the elements. Thankfully this isn’t at the cost of performance. In fact many exterior ceiling lights are as powerful if not more so than their interior counterparts.

LIGMAN has a range of exterior ceiling lights. Two notable examples are the LADOR and ODESSA family of luminaires. These powerful spot lights and projectors are available in a wide range of mounting options, including surface ceiling mounted. Making them extremely versatile for designers looking for a uniform aesthetic throughout a project.

Not all exterior ceiling lights need to be surface mounted. NIKONMUNICHMONDOVA, and ROBUST are all ceiling recessed exterior ceiling lights. Each with a minimum IP65 rating to prevent ingress of moisture, dust or insects from entering the fitting.

ROBUST asymmetrical downlights can also take advantage of LIGMAN’s unique MicroVOS™ technology. This enables fine tuning of the lighting distribution, tailoring it to meet the specific requirements of a project. TANGO surface exterior ceiling downlights also have this capability. Giving designers a choice of surface mounted or ceiling recessed with tailored optics.

LED Ceiling Lamp

The introduction of LED ceiling lamps has seen impressive changes to the lighting design industry. Ceiling lights were typically fixed in terms of their output, particularly high output ceiling lights with metal halide lamps that could not be dimmed.

LED ceiling lamps have enabled both interior and exterior spaces to have more control over the lighting design. All LED ceiling lights have the potential to be dimmed, providing an important saving for the power demands of an installation.

One of the major advantages of LED ceiling lamps is that it is possible to use dynamic white light. In traditional lighting installations, the colour temperature of the ceiling light was determined by the choice of lamp. Although it was possible to use filters to modify the output, there was little else designers could do to control this. Now with LED ceiling lamps it is possible to regulate the colour temperature of ceiling luminaires. Enabling them to be cool and bright during the day and warm and dim during the evenings.

Should the project ask for such flexibility, it is also possible to introduce RGB lighting to unconventional spaces. Boardrooms and corridors can now include a component of colourful RGB lighting during specific occassions, without hindering the performance of the main LED ceiling lamp.
