Middle East Lighting design summit 2018

Ligman took Gold sponsorship at the event and the Ligman Middle East team were there in force, headed by Sales & Marketing Manager, Jehan Dharmadasa. In addition, Ligman’s Global Lighting Director, Martin Valentine came back to the region in which he lived many years and gave a presentation on the morning of the first day and was also invited to speak as part of one of the panel discussions. He personally has been involved with every one of these summits since the first one launched in 2011 and has been instrumental in working closely with Expotrade, the organisers, in growing this event to the success it is today.

Every year has seen the event host several renowned international and local speakers and this year was no exception, with Regina Santos bravely stepping in to move up the agenda at the last minute and provide a wonderful talk for the event’s key note presentation and Michael Grubb giving a engrossing and fun visual exploration of what it is to be ‘The New Age Lighting Designer’.

Martin Valentine presented ‘New Opportunities for Dynamic Façade Lighting to Historic Buildings’; showcasing Ligman’s recently completed unique wireless-DMX dynamic façade lighting project of the Abu Dhabi City Municipality Headquarters, together with examples of other historic buildings on which he undertook lighting design for challenging solutions, including London’s Foreign & Commonwealth Office and Natural History Museum.

On the second day ADM’s Lighting Expert; David Dunn, gave a fascinating presentation about how lighting design is linked to visual perception. And over both days a number of important topics were covered within panel discussions, hosting some of the most influential people in the region as guest panellists. The subjects ranging from setting the right mood with lighting to how cities look!

Ligman is proud to have been involved with such an enlightening event, for all the new people we met and thoroughly recommend keeping an eye on the website for more photos, reviews and videos and interviews of the presenters and delegates. www.lightingsummit.com
